REVIEW: Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet & Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask

You know, twins can be so annoying at times.. Like have you ever watched toddler twins roaming around a store screeching like baboons? Yeah, I wanted to sell my ovaries too, you are not alone.

However, KLAIRS just blessed us with a set of twins you definitely don’t want to miss! They are exactly the opposite.. calming, soothing, hydrating, moisturizing.. Overall, just exactly what you need after a stressful day of work with coworkers wrecking your nerves.
And they also look like twins too!

The products

Today it’s products, not product, as I am going to tell you about two sheet masks that almost look the same, but work in ever so different ways on your skin.
One is calming to your skin, the other soothing. - I know, you are thinking ‘But Virginia, that does sound so similar! How are they actually different?’. No worries, I will tell you in a minute, first I want to talk about the packaging!
You know, I wasn’t lying when I said they look just like twins, because they do! They come in this super sleek, minimalistic packaging we all know and adore about KLAIRS. Both of them are filled with 25ml of serum which ensures all of your tiny skin cells will be drenched in goodness.
To go with the theme of calming and soothing, the backsides of the sheet masks are held in shades of blue we know from the KLAIRS Midnight Blue Calming Cream and the KLAIRS Rich Moist Soothing Cream. Basically, the sheet masks contain all the goodies from those two cream products.

The Rich Moist Soothing TENCEL Sheet Mask is, as its name already entails, made out of TENCEL. TENCEL is a fiber made from wood or bamboo and is known for its excellent absorption qualities and extremely soft texture. - Perfect for non-irritating skin care and a soothing feeling on your skin.

On the other hand, the Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask is made of bamboo charcoal, well not exactly made of it, but you get the deal. Bamboo charcoal is excellent at absorbing dirt and other impurities whilst not being adsorbed itself. A vacuum cleaner for your skin!

Key ingredients for the Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet Mask

In this sheet mask, you will find tons and tons of ceramides. And what do we already know about ceramides? They are the backbone of healthy, glowy skin as they create the lipid barrier between your skin and the outside world

I always say to anyone who asks me why their skin is always irritated and red, if they look after their natural lipid barrier. A lot of the times, irritations occur because this barrier has been impacted by harsh skin care or improper care, like for example exfoliating one too many times over a short period of time.
In the Rich Moist Soothing Sheet Mask you will find 5 different ceramides which all also occur naturally in our skin. By using this sheet mask, you will fill in ceramides where they might be missing and you will strengthen your overall skin barrier.

Besides the ceramides, the sheet masks is packed with a lot of basic but essential ingredients to boost the moisture levels in your skin and take away all that exhausted, dry looking skin. Some of the ingredients are Aloe Vera leaf extract, hyaluronic acid (Magical ingredient, gift from the gods.) and my ever so dearly loved Centella Asiatica.

Now, let’s have a look at the Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask

Low and behold, this sheet mask is also packed densely with goodies for your skin.
First ingredient on the list: White Willow Bark. You may already know this, firstly, because it is a super popular ingredient and also maybe from your pain killers as it contains salicylic acid. Aspirin is not a skin care product tho.
White willow bark is magical for a couple of reasons. It is a natural exfoliant as it contains BHA. BHA is also very useful when it comes to supporting your skin in getting rid of dead skin cells and clean pores. The salicylic acid and BHA fight your pimples and clean your pores in no time.
This sheet mask is super cool, because it contains a cooling agent known as Erythritol. You may know it as zero-calorie sweetener, but have you ever thought of putting it on your face? No? Maybe you should give it a try!
Upon applying the sheet mask, the Erythritol immediately cools the skin, which helps everyone who gets heated skin due to irritation. Or me, who forgets to use sunscreen and burns her face.

Back to the Rich Moist Soothing Sheet Mask - it is a moisture bomb for your skin. Whether it be because of gnarly winter weather or irritation from sun rays, you bet this sheet mask is going to inject maximum levels of hydration and moisture into your skin.
You know, I’ve always loved KLAIRS cream products, they are lightweight, very gentle but still highly potent in their workings.
Lately, I’ve gotten into wearing heavy foundations on a daily basis (By heavy I mean the Kat von D Lock-it Foundation.) and let me tell you, your makeup can be the most expensive brand on the planet, if your skins condition resembles my math grades, it won’t look good. (Btw. I’ve failed math multiple times.)
So, for anyone, a solid skin care routine should be prioritized over any expensive makeup. Here’s where my undying love for KLAIRS was born. Their moisturizers moisturize the skin deeply and throughout the whole day, ensuring your makeup look won’t go down the drain. Even their sunscreen can be worn underneath foundation without any problems.
So for me, the Rich Moist Soothing Sheet Mask somewhat serves the same purpose as the cream product, even though their ingredients are different.
I use it whenever I feel like, my skin needs just an extra tiny bit of moisture, for example when I go out and my makeup look has to stay perfect all night long. (Goth people wear a shit ton of makeup when they go out.)

What’s the fuss about the Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask?

In this case, it’s not as much about infusing your skin with copious amounts of moisture, more about calming your skin. Calming your skin after it got all heated up from irritation, or inflammation, calming it from stress and environmental impacts.. I use it after I’ve had a lot of makeup on and my skin feels all pouty and angry. It’s cooling effect is also very relaxing, not only to your skin, but to your overall being. (At least in my opinion.)
Sadly, it is not blue, as it contains no Guaiazulene but that does not mean, it’s not deserving of its name!
The willow bark extract also makes it a perfect sheet mask for acne prone skin, or very oily skin. The extract will take away all that clogged feeling and balance sebum production.
Who doesn’t love pure pores?

How do I use a sheet mask?

Well, it’s as easy as it can get. Clean your skin and apply your favorite toner. Gently unfold your sheet mask and place snuggly onto your face. Leave for at least 15 mins. (I sometimes fall asleep, never harmed me.) Also, if you happen to have compressed sheet masks, you can use the leftover serum for yet another round! There’s enough serum for at least one more sheet mask.

There’s no picking favorites! Both of them serve different purposes, comparing them would be like comparing apples and pears.. Almost the same but still very different.

Dear KLAIRS.. I love you.

I tried the Rich Moist Soothing Mask yesterday for the first time and I agree with you. It’s very well formulated, hydrating and felt like a soft comforting blanket on my sensitive skin!

I’ve told you many things about vitamin C and how marvelous it can be for our skin in terms of anti-ageing and protection from environmental influences. But do you remember that I also told you about how easily its effects are supercharged by manyfolds if you just combine it with a product containing vitamin E?
Btw. it looks and feels like pudding. It doesn’t taste like it tho. Sad life of Virginia.
